Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between PA and PI address space?
Provider Aggregatable (PA) space is allocated from StormCloud's address pool and routed under our ASN. Provider Independent (PI) space is assigned directly to you by an RIR and is portable — you can announce it from any ASN or ISP.
Do I need an ASN to use your IP services?
No. PA subnets are announced via StormCloud's ASN, so you do not need your own ASN. However, if you want to announce PI space or multi-home across multiple providers, an ASN is required. We offer ASN registration assistance.
Are the IPv4 addresses clean and unblacklisted?
Yes. All IPv4 blocks are verified clean across major RBLs (Spamhaus, SORBS, Barracuda, etc.) before allocation. RPKI ROA records are in place to prevent route hijacking.
Can I get PTR / reverse DNS for my IPs?
Yes. Full PTR delegation is included. You can set custom reverse DNS records for any IP in your subnet via the client panel or by contacting support.
Is there a minimum commitment period?
IP subnets are billed monthly with no minimum contract. You can cancel at any time. The subnet will be reclaimed at the end of the billing period.
Can I use the IPs with servers from other providers?
PA subnets are tied to StormCloud's routing infrastructure. If you need fully portable IPs that can be used with any provider, we recommend PI space with your own ASN — our team can assist with the registration process.
